His Son's Are His Reason To Never Give

I met with a client today who has a permanent disability due to a drunk driver accident but, he isn't bitter. He met with me to discuss an invention idea and while we talked he explained his desire to role model to his sons that possibilities always continue to exist regardless of your circumstances. He went on to say that there was a short period of time when he was depressed and bitter but, no longer as that isn't what he wants his sons to see. His son's are his reason to never give up.

Year after year we make resolutions to exercise regularly, eat well, give up bad habits, find love, be more successful, etc.  But most of us fail to keep our promises to ourselves.  Why does this keep happening?  It's because we just make a wish vs. making a plan to succeed.


In 2020 try something new.  Start by doing these things:

  • Stop waiting for someone else to magically fix you or make you happy.
  • Decide what you want and write it down. 
  • Be realistic and set goals that you believe you can achieve.
  • Remember, you can't sit on the couch and wait for things to change. 
  • If you want something you don't currently have you must do something you currently aren't doing. 
  • Write a positive plan of action to achieve the goal(s).
  • Stick to the plan and do the work. 
  • Keep the the promises you make to yourself.
  • Become your own solution.

Four qualities will be critical for business leaders to find their way: resolve, resilience, re-imagination, and reform. Many will have to start over.  I'm reminded of the old saying 'when one door closes another opens'.  Change your perspective from anger, sadness, and loss.  Instead focus on the prospect that you have a new opportunity to build what you really want.

Are You Struggling With Covid Fatigue!

We've all faced Covid-19 challenges. I don't think any of us expected the pandemic to interrupt our lives for this long. The realities of working from home, temporary unemployment, home-schooling of children, and lack of physical contact with other family members, friends and colleagues have taken a toll on all of us. What can we do to reduce Covid-19 fatigue? We need to retain hope. There is light at the end of the tunnel. The vaccination roll-out has begun. However, it's still going to be awhile until we get past Covid-19 so, we need to stay the course with a healthy routine:

  • Get up and go to bed at similar times every day.
  • Keep up with personal hygiene.
  • Eat healthy meals at regular times.
  • Exercise regularly (if you don't feel safe at the gym check out http://gleedance.com they offer on demand fitness classes).
  • Make time for doing things you enjoy that can be done socially distanced.
  • Continue to wash hands excessively and mask up when venturing to the store, clinic, etc.
